Von der Leyen wants to put European household savings “at the service” of businesses

 

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, resigns from her position. The White House has released a statement:

"Dr. Walensky has saved lives with his steadfast and unwavering focus on the health of all Americans," the statement said.

“As CDC director, she led a complex organization on the front lines of a once-in-a-generation pandemic with honesty and integrity.

It brought together our best scientists and public health experts to turn the tide on the urgent crises we have faced.”

"Dr. Walensky leaves CDC a stronger institution, better positioned to confront health threats and protect Americans," the statement said. "We have all benefited from his service and dedication to public health, and I wish him the best in his next chapter."

Walensky's departure will take effect June 30, with no interim director named at the time of the announcement. He presented his resignation letter to President Joe Biden and briefed CDC staff during a meeting.
