The Australian government has instructed the families of
diplomatic personnel stationed in Israel and Lebanon to leave both countries
due to the deteriorating security environment in the Middle East. The measure
was confirmed Wednesday by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs.
According to the department, the decision follows an updated
risk assessment in the region, where tensions and episodes of violence have
created an unstable situation. Although diplomatic personnel will continue to
perform their duties, authorities deemed it prudent to reduce the exposure of
their families while the uncertainty persists.
The Australian government stated that its priority is to
safeguard the well-being of its citizens abroad and that it will continue to
closely monitor developments and take further action if the situation requires
it.
