Von der Leyen wants to put European household savings “at the service” of businesses

 

MOSCOW, RUSSIA — Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the director of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), John Ratcliffe, did not plan to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Moscow.

Peskov's statement comes after news broke of Ratcliffe's trip to the Russian capital for high-level talks with Russian officials, a visit that had not been previously announced.

The Kremlin spokesman did not specify which Russian officials the CIA chief would meet with or what the main topics of discussion would be.

Ratcliffe's visit has attracted attention because it represents a rare meeting between senior U.S. and Russian intelligence officials, in a context marked by tensions between the two governments.

The absence of a planned meeting with Putin suggests that Ratcliffe's contacts were focused on communication channels and intelligence or security matters, rather than direct negotiations at the highest level between the two governments.

So far, Moscow and Washington have not publicly reported on the outcomes of the meetings.
