Washington, D.C. – Recent reports indicate that the Central
Intelligence Agency (CIA) has discreetly created a specialized task force
focused on Cuba, whose objective would be to use financial resources and cyber
capabilities to sow division within Havana's political elite.
According to information published by various media outlets,
the initiative is aimed at strengthening intelligence operations related to the
island, in a context of persistent tensions between the United States and the
Cuban government.
To date, the CIA has not publicly confirmed the existence of
such a task force nor issued an official statement regarding the reports
circulating about these alleged operations.
For their part, Cuban authorities have also not officially
responded to the reports. If confirmed, the move would represent a new episode
in the complex relationship between Washington and Havana, marked for decades
by political, economic, and security differences.
