Washington—The United States increased pressure on Palestine
Action Wednesday by officially adding the British group to its list of
sanctioned terrorist organizations, as part of a new offensive by the Trump
administration against networks it considers linked to violent far-left
actions.
The measure was announced by the Treasury Department, which
added Palestine Action to its Specially Designated Global Terrorists (SDGT)
list under Executive Order 13224, accusing it of providing material, financial,
or technological support related to acts of terrorism.
The designation entails the blocking of any property and assets
the group may have under US jurisdiction and prohibits US persons and entities
from engaging in transactions with the organization.
Palestine Action, founded in the UK in 2020, has focused its
actions on companies linked to Israel's defense industry, particularly Elbit
Systems facilities. The British government had already banned the group as a
terrorist organization, a decision that remains the subject of legal dispute.
Washington's decision is part of a package of sanctions also
targeting other organizations that the U.S. government places within
transnational far-left networks. These include Masar Badil, which the Treasury
links to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, as well as the
Italian organization Autistici/Inventati.
