WASHINGTON, USA – Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne
Mullin stated that US authorities are investigating Democratic Congresswoman
Ilhan Omar regarding allegations that she married her brother to facilitate her
entry into the United States.
“We know she married her brother to try to bring her to the
United States,” Mullin declared during a Republican event, noting that the
investigation also includes the possibility of other immigration
irregularities.
The official emphasized that any action must be based on
evidence and not on political motives. Omar has repeatedly denied the
accusation, calling it false and offensive. Previous journalistic
investigations have shown a marriage certificate for the siblings, the
authenticity of which will have to be proven in the case.
