The pandemic already leaves more than 10,000 dead in a confined and scared world

From Argentina to Russia, passing through California, Spain or Italy, citizens shield themselves to reduce the number of infections and curb the coronavirus pandemic, which continues to advance and has already left more than 10,000 deaths worldwide, half of them in Europe.

The Old Continent remains the epicenter of the epidemic and Italy and Spain are, respectively, the countries with the highest number of infections after China. In just 24 hours, there were more than 1,000 deaths in Europe, where the confinement measures decreed by the authorities have not yet borne fruit.
In Spain, the total number of deaths from coronavirus exceeded 1,000 this Friday and there are already 20,000 infections, according to the director of health emergencies, Fernando Simón.

The Spanish authorities have warned that the “hardest days” are ahead and have hired thousands of retired doctors, medical and nursing students or unemployed health personnel to improve health care for the sick.

In addition, they opened a first hotel transformed into a hospital for the infected in order to "relieve pressure" on overburdened hospitals.
