The organization Save The Children asked indicated today
that it wants to raise one hundred million dollars to save millions of children's
lives from the COVID-19 pandemic, which will affect those "most
vulnerable", especially those living in poverty or conflict zones.
In a statement, the NGO warns that the crisis caused by the
coronavirus that plagues the entire globe "threatens to devastate the
health and education" of minors and generates "unprecedented
protection needs."
The organization aims to raise that amount to "urgently
keep children and their families safe during the COVID-19 outbreak, the most
serious global threat to health and safety."
Since the beginning of the outbreak, the NGO continues to
try to respond to the needs of communities in affected areas, such as China,
the United States and Europe, according to the note.
Faced with the acceleration of the pandemic by other lower
income countries, Save The Children warns that "if action is not taken now
in countries of South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa, this could result in the
loss of three million human lives" .
Inger Ashing, CEO of Save The Children International, warned
that the disease "is now spreading through the world's poorest countries,
further destroying fragile health systems where there are no longer treatments
to save the lives of children who have malaria, pneumonia and malnutrition ».
