700,000 migrants waiting to cross the southern US border

Biden hit from both sides of the aisle as 700,000 migrants approach the border

President Joe Biden is coming under fire from left and right as officials warn some 700,000 immigrants will rush across the Southwest border and cross into the US illegally when Title 42 ends.

“Border Patrol shared with us their intelligence that there are approximately 700,000, going back three weeks, in shelters in Mexico waiting to enter the United States,” Jonathan Lines, a supervisor for the County Board of Supervisors, said last week. Yuma in Arizona.

He added that border officials had reported a fivefold increase in the number of migrants crossing the Darien Gap, the land route connecting South America and Central America, the Washington Free Beacon noted.

Title 42, a pandemic-related regulation that allows authorities to quickly turn away migrants at the border, will expire on May 11. After it expires, the Biden administration intends to expand the catch-and-release system, likely allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants to enter the country with instructions to appear at an immigration hearing in the coming years. Most never show up.
