Rep. Matt Gaetz was furious Sunday after a video of him
grooming then-2018 Republican Florida gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis on
how to respond to then-President Donald Trump.
The Republican congressman from Florida, who has positioned
himself as a major Trump supporter, called the leak "unfair hacking"
after it was broadcast by ABC News.
Mediaite reported: “Gaetz was an adviser to DeSantis at the
time, so footage showed the two standing side by side in a mock debate in which
Gaetz asked DeSantis, 'Are there any issues that you don't agree on? agree with
President Trump?'”
Gaetz took to Twitter to criticize the leak of several
videos in which DeSantis contemplates how to address certain issues while
maintaining favor with the former president's supporters. Gaetz denounced the
release as "unfair hacking" and rejected the idea that it portrays
DeSantis in a negative political light.
