The United States Central Command reported that U.S.
military forces conducted armed operations in southern Iran in response to
threats considered direct against U.S. personnel and assets deployed in the
region.
According to the official report, the military actions
targeted positions used for missile launches and Iranian vessels that were
allegedly attempting to lay mines in strategic maritime areas. U.S. authorities
stated that these activities posed an immediate risk to the safety of their
troops and to international shipping.
The U.S. military maintained that the operations were
carried out under the principle of self-defense and as part of measures
intended to protect its forces amid the current tense situation in the Middle
East.
Central Command further specified that, despite the military
actions, the United States remains committed to acting with restraint during
the ceasefire currently in effect in the region. According to the institution,
the operations sought to contain specific threats without escalating the
conflict beyond what was necessary.
So far, Iranian authorities have not issued a detailed
response to the attacks reported by the United States, although Tehran has
previously rejected similar accusations and warned that it will respond to any
action it considers an aggression against its territory or military interests.
