Trump Downplays TikTok Concerns and Touts His Popularity on the Platform

US President Donald Trump downplayed concerns about potential Chinese government influence and espionage risks associated with the TikTok platform, asserting that these factors do not worry him and highlighting his own presence on the social network.

During remarks to the press, Trump claimed he enjoys enormous popularity among TikTok users, asserting that he ranks first on the platform in terms of impact and reach. "I'm number one on TikTok, by far!" the president declared, referring to his performance on the app.

The president also alluded to the platform's ownership structure, noting that, in his opinion, TikTok is controlled by American investors and businesspeople. "Great Americans, amazing entrepreneurs and companies bought it," he commented, suggesting that this situation reduces concerns about foreign influence on the app's operation.

The president's stance reflects a shift in emphasis regarding the discussion on TikTok, prioritizing the app's growth as a communication tool and its ability to connect with millions of users, especially young people, in a context where social media plays an increasingly important role in disseminating political messages and interacting with the electorate.
