More than a third of the world population was confined this
Wednesday, after India added to the isolation to stop the spread of the
coronavirus, which in Spain has already exceeded the death rate of China, the
origin of the pandemic.
While the United States Senate agreed with the White House
on a gigantic package of aid for two trillion dollars, which made the world
markets react, Spain registered in one day 738 deaths and accumulated 3,434
deaths, second only to Italy.
With the confinement of India, the second country with the
largest population in the world, there are already close to 3,000 million
people cloistered at home, according to a count from an AFP database.
In the Asian giant, the constant bustle has mutated into an
unreal calm with frozen planes and trains, empty streets, regions that closed
borders and a slogan repeated all the time: "Stay at home."
But in the calm there are also outbreaks of paranoia.
Villages protected with barricades, local policemen authorized to shoot those
who violate the confinement, or red signs posted on the doors of those who have
traveled abroad.
The spread of the pandemic led Russian President Vladimir
Putin - in his last term under the current legal framework - to postpone the
vote on his constitutional reform without date and to declare work leave next
week.
