Diplomatic negotiations and tensions between the United
States and Iran have intensified again after Iranian state media reported that
Tehran is demanding the release of $24 billion as a precondition for moving
toward a possible agreement with Washington.
According to these reports, Iranian authorities consider the
release of financial resources essential before any political or economic
understanding. However, members of President Donald Trump's political circle
have reportedly categorically rejected this possibility.
Sources close to Trump's team maintained that there will be
no economic relief or access to funds until Iran fully complies with the
demands set by the United States. Among the main conditions are the complete
abandonment of any nuclear weapons program and a guarantee that Tehran will not
interfere with the strategic control of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most
important maritime routes for global oil trade.
The US stance reflects a much more rigid pressure campaign
against the Iranian government, based on economic sanctions, financial
restrictions, and regional security demands. Trump supporters have defended
this strategy, arguing that Washington should not make economic concessions
without clear and verifiable guarantees.
Furthermore, voices close to the Republican president have
used the conflict to highlight differences with policies implemented during the
Barack Obama administration, particularly those related to nuclear agreements
and the release of financial resources to Iran.
