Alaska has become the first state in the US to open COVID-19 vaccinations to younger people, allowing anyone over the age of 16 to get the vaccine.
Gov. Mike Dunleavy announced Tuesday night that the state
removed eligibility requirements and that the new protocol is "effective
immediately" for "anyone who lives or works in Alaska."
“This historic step is another national first for Alaska,
but it should come as no surprise. From day one, their response to the pandemic
has been without a doubt the best in the nation, ”Dunleavy said in a statement.
According to the state government, the Pfizer vaccine would
be available to people over the age of 16 and the Johnson & Johnson vaccine
and the Moderna vaccine would be given to people over the age of 18.
