Australia has raised its dispute with the Chinese regime to
the World Trade Organization (WTO), requesting that a committee be established
to deal in detail with the punitive tariffs that Beijing imposed on Australian
barley exports. Australian producers and politicians denounce that there are
political motivations behind the abusive import tariffs.
Informal talks between members of the deteriorating trade
partnership between the Chinese regime and Australia over their barley-related
anti-dumping dispute have not had good results since the conflicts began last
year, the South China Morning Post reported.
Relations between the two countries remain unimproved,
particularly after several major Australian exports such as coal, timber and
wine were unofficially banned last year by the regime.
During 2020, the National Federation of Australian Farmers
already raised their concerns in this regard, after the Chinese Minister of
Commerce complied with the threats and applied tariffs of up to 80.5 percent on
imports of Australian barley.
Diplomatic tensions between Canberra and Beijing have soared
after Australia pushed for an investigation into the origin of the coronavirus
during the CCP virus health crisis.
